163 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection have been announced
in the country by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
On Sunday, the NCDC made this
known on its official twitter account.
The public health agency said the 163 new infections brought
the reported infections of COVID-19 in the nation to 60,266.
It also reported that 12 states
have been notified of the new infection.
The NCDC also reported the discharge from
isolation centers across the country of 24 patients.
According to the agency, with 113 cases , the state of Lagos recorded the highest
number of cases in the country, followed by the state of Kaduna with 21 cases.
Osun State recorded eight cases, while
five cases were reported by Ondo State.
Other states include Oyo-5, Ogun-3, Bayelsa-2,
Taraba-2, Edo-1, FCT-1, Katsina-1 and Plateau-1, respectively.
However, the department indicated that 553,037 studies have been
carried out since the first confirmed case was discovered.
Nigeria now has a total of 60,266 cases, according to the study, of which 51,735
have been discharged and 1,115 have been registered in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
It reported that a Level 3 enabled multi-sectoral national emergency operations
centre (EOC) continued to organize national response activities across the country.
The Nigerian News Agency cited the NCDC as saying that about 20,272 tests were performed between
October 4 and 10, 2020 and that there are only 7,277 active cases in the country.
In the last seven days, Nigeria has reported a total of 816
cases, compared with 1,089 cases recorded between 27 September and 3 October.
The nation tested 553,037 in its 41st week
since the beginning of the pandemic in February.
According to data provided by the NCDC, the country’s COVID-19 death
rate decreased last week, although two individuals died during the time.
From September 27 to October 3, seven people died from the virus, while
12 deaths were reported from September 20 to 26 in the penultimate week.
993 individuals have survived and were released last week, indicating a
decline compared to the 996 individuals who died the previous week.
