The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed
a pandemic outbreak of 829 new coronavirus infections (COVID-19).
On Saturday, the NCDC made
this known via its checked website.
Nigeria’s News Agency(NAN) estimates that more than 925,215 samples have been
screened in the country since the start of the outbreak in February.
The NCDC noted that the new infections bring the country’s total number
of COVID-19 reported cases to 83,576, including 70,495 discharged cases and 1,247 fatalities.
The public health agency said that in the last
24 hours, the country has unfortunately reported one additional death.
It emerged that 256 patients were discharged from isolation
centers across the nation after recovering from the infection.
“Our discharges today include 113 community recoveries in Lagos State and 92 community recoveries in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines,” it stated.
The NCDC said that new infections have been identified in the
last 24 hours in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to it, there were 296 new infections in the state of Lagos, while 291 new infections were
registered in the Federal Capital Territory, and 79, 40 and 35 cases were reported in Kaduna, Rivers and Kano.
Nasarawa-25, Bauchi-19, Benue-8, Borno-7, Edo-7, Oyo-7, Sokoto-7, Cross River-3,
Jigawa-3 and Ogun-2 were the other states with new infections.
