The Action Democratic Party (ADP), has put in place modalities and strategies to upscale its membership beyond Two Million ahead of 2023 General Elections.
Mr Yabaji Sani, the ADP National Chairman, said this on Thursday at the end of the party’s 10th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
Sani who presided over the meeting said that it was time to establish and implement its set modalities to boost the present figure of the party.
“The NEC has exhaustively deliberated on issues relating to the party and its advancement in the light of the 2023 general elections and on prevailing political happenings in the national political landscape.
“The NEC has recommended the constitution of a committee to establish and oversee modalities and strategies on an aggressive membership drive to boost the present figure of two million card-carrying members of the party.
“The NEC has also mapped out strategies to reinvigorate the party’s membership structures at all levels from the ward and local governments through to the national level,’’ Sani said.
He said that in pursuant to the above, the NEC calls on state and local government leaderships of the party to ensure regular meetings of their respective officials as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
“The NEC also directs the party’s leaderships at all levels to ensure that henceforth, ADP participates in all elections by featuring candidates or, the party flag bearers.
“Executives, especially the chairmen at states and local government levels are henceforth to actively monitor and comment by making enlightened and courageous statements to the mass media.
“And this should be done within the framework of the philosophy of the party on developments in their respective areas,’’ he said.
Sani said that the ADP was a political party of patriots committed to the unity and continuity of Nigeria as one indivisible entity.
He also said that the party upholds the dictum of equity as a yard stick in political appointments and elections of leaders for good governance.
He, however said that the party did not believe that commitment to the principle of equity and balancing of power should becloud the superior requirements of merit come 2023 elections.
He therefore urged the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to manifest honesty and commitment in conducting credible elections in 2023 through the introduction of innovations and technological devises in tune with global best practices.
