The Nigerian Labour Congress and all related unions were stopped from
embarking on a national strike on Monday by another court order.
The second order came
from Abuja’s National Industrial Court.
The court ordered an interim injunction to prohibit the Nigerian Labour Congress and other labor unions from embarking
on the proposed action on Sept. 28 by the Trade Union Congress, their agents, staff, members, servants or proxies.
Pending the hearing and determination of the claimants’ motion
of notice, it asked them to postpone their proposal.
On Friday, following an ex-parte motion filed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the
Attorney General of the Federation through their lawyers, M. Justice Ibrahim Galadima released the order.

After close review of the deposition contained in the affidavits, the
Judge delivered the decision, stating that he found the request meritorious.
In addition, the court ordered that the NLC and TUC be served with the
motion for notice as well as other procedures within seven days from Friday, Sept. 25.
A similar ex-parte application filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Peace and Reconciliation Ambassadors
Association through its lawyer, Sanusi Musa, was granted by the same court on Sept. 24.
