President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new security measures aimed at the country’s geographical areas of the South East and South-South.

On Tuesday, Buhari gave his approval during a security meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, which he presided over.

Usman Baba, the acting Inspector-General of Police, revealed the information but did not elaborate while briefing reporters after the meeting.

The president also approved a memo from National Security Adviser (NSA) Major-Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd) on drug regulation, which he described as “enablers of insecurity.”

However, the NSA, who did not go into detail while briefing the press, said the meeting emphasized the importance of addressing the country’s security challenges, especially those that have arisen in recent months.
