According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 143 new cases of
coronavirus (COVID-19) infection have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
On Friday, the NCDC made
this known via its checked website.
The public health agency said the infections took
the country’s total number of cases to 65,982.
Nigeria’s News Agency estimates that after the first reported case concerning the COVID-19
pandemic was declared on Feb. 27, 2020, Nigeria has so far screened 728,128 individuals.
The NCDC registered 143 new cases from 10 Federation and FCT States, namely Lagos (70), Kaduna (25),
FCT (22), Ogun (11), Plateau (4), Oyo (4), Ekiti (3), Osun (2), Edo (1) and Kano (1).
The centre added that Level 3 activation of a multi-sectoral
national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) continued to organize national response activities.
The NCDC said that 65,982 cases have been confirmed to date, 61,782 patients have
been discharged, and 1,165 deaths have been registered in 36 states and the FCT.
