In commemoration of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ through the celebration of Easter by Christians,an NGO, He Cares Group, has distributed cash gifts to no fewer than 40 widows, widowers and orphans in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
Distributing the gifts to the beneficiaries, Mr Clement Emmanuel, President of the Group, said the gesture was to bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged as they celebrated Easter.
Emmanuel, who was represented by Mr Solomon Vani, said that in spite the harsh economic condition of the country, the group would continue to reach out to the less privileged by providing succour to them.
“Our intention in this group is to brighten up your mood, we want you to always be happy irrespective of the state you are in.
“Part of our mandate in this group is to always pay attention to the less privileged in the society, as our goal is to give them a sense of belonging, hope and confidence that they are important and dear to us.
“Let us put aside anything bothering us as Easter is all about love, celebration, giving and good relationship,” he said.
He also called those who are highly placed in society to take care of the needy, poor and less privileged at all times.
On her part, Mama Mary Oyegun, a nonagenarian, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, appreciated the group for the donation.
