Because the schools will return on January 10 for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session, the Kaduna state government has ordered all public schools in the state to switch to a four-day work week.
In a notice of school resumption for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic session, the Commissioner for Education, Halima Lawal, presented the orders in Kaduna on Sunday.
According to the Nigerian News Agency, the Kaduna State Government began the transition to a four-day work week on December 1, 2021.
He noted that all parents, guardians, and members of the public should be aware that the state government has set January 10 as the start date for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic year.
“The Kaduna State Government desires to remind parents, guardians, and members of the public that the resumption date for the second period of the 2021/2022 academic session, which was earlier set for Monday, January 10, 2021, has not changed.”
All principals and directors are expected to receive boarding students on Sunday, January 9, 2022, and day students on Monday, January 10, 2022, according to the Ministry of Education.
“The ministry also advises parents, guardians and students to comply with all public health guidelines by adopting all protective measures against COVID-19.
“In addition, administrators and owners of public and private schools and other learning centers, including Islamiyya and Madrasas, are encouraged to maintain established school-based safety committees to ensure the safety of students in schools,” He said.
The commissioner also advised school administrators and owners to follow the federal Ministry of Education’s Safe School Learning Initiatives.
He asked members of the school safety committee to make sure that safety devices are properly monitored and that any threats to safety in their schools are reported immediately by calling 09034000060 or 08170189999.
Governor Nasir El-spokesman, Rufai’s Muyiwa Adekeye, said in a statement that the new legislation would eventually harm the state’s organized private sector.
The initiative is intended to assist raise productivity, promote work-life balance, and provide workers more time with their families, rest, and farming, according to the statement.
In light of the new situation, Lawal indicated that the academic schedule for 2021/2022 will be changed to guarantee that the curriculum for the academic session is covered.
