Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has promised to complete all roads and other critical infrastructural projects before the end of his tenure.
Ganduje stated this on Thursday in Kano during the ceremony to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary held at Kano Pillars Stadium.
The Governor maintained that this course of action was aimed at turning around the fortunes of the state.
He stressed his administration’s resolve to diligently serve the people, through deliberate policies and executing programmes that would bring development to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The governor said that his administration was committed to the continuous upgrade of infrastructures, particularly, roads in the state.
Ganduje added that the projects would pave way for free traffic flow in the state capital and other urban cities, as well boost economic activities.
He also said that the state government had concluded arrangements to buy 100 buses for its Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) scheme.
“We approved N3.2 billion for the purchase of medical equipment, furniture, ICT equipment and hospital management software for the new four 400 beds hospitals in the newly created emirates,” Ganduje added.
He also said that the state governent had awarded N500 million and N400 million contracts for the establishment of military training centre at Falgore forest and establishment of Advance Communication System at police headquarters in Bompai, respectively.
According to him, another N500 million contract was awarded for the establishment of Tracking System at Directorate of State Security DSS office in the metropolis.
Governor Ganduje, therefore, urged Nigerians to emulate the nation’s founding fathers, who selflessly fought for Nigeria’s independence and unity, adding that their sacrifices must not go in vain.
He further appealed to all Nigerians to live peacefully with one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political differences.
