On Friday, the Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of three suspects for criminal conspiracy, inciting riots, and kidnapping in the state.
ASP Mohammed Jalige, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in a statement issued in Kaduna.
According to Jalige, the command received a complaint from a citizen of Fadere village in the state’s Lere Local Government Area on March 22 at around 0800 hours through DPO Zonkwa.
He claimed that on March 21, the complainant and three others from the same address went to Gora-Gan, Zangon Kataf LGA, to retrieve their cows that had been taken into military custody.
After collecting the cows, they requested military escort, he explained.
He claimed that the Secretary to the District Head of Gora, Atyap Chiefdom, insisted that military escort was unnecessary because he would ensure that they arrived safely at their destination.
However, he claimed that as they were leaving Gora-Gan, hoodlums ambushed and attacked the vehicle that was transporting them.
According to him, this caused all of the vehicle’s occupants to flee in different directions into the bush for safety.
“The three others’ whereabouts remained unknown,” he said.
On receiving the complaint, Jalige said, the command’s operatives were immediately dispatched to ensure that the criminals were apprehended while the victims were rescued unharmed.
“During the course of investigations, three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident while efforts were being intensified to ensure that justice was served in the interest of peace in the area,” he said.
“In view of the above, the command assures parties involved that justice will certainly prevail to serve as deterrent to whosoever wants to truncate the relative peace currently being enjoyed in that axis of the state,” he said.
He advised the public to avoid taking laws into their own hands and to instead go to the appropriate authorities with any grievances they may have for redress.
