Mr Usman Baba, the Acting Inspector-General of Police (I-G), says the country’s security situation in the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones is critical.
This was revealed by Baba during the opening of a meeting with police strategic commanders in the zones on Friday in Abuja.
He stated that the aim of the meeting was to address and resolve security issues affecting the two regions of the country.
The commanders would return to their zones after the meeting, according to Baba, to put the meeting’s outcomes into action.
The I-G stated that the difficulties would force the force to rethink its organizational methods in order to address the problems as soon as possible.
“It is not like we do not have problems in other geopolitical zones of the country, but we have to address them one after the other.’’
Because of COVID-19 protocols, he said calling a wider meeting of all Commissioners of Police and other senior officers would not be appropriate at this time.
