In the Spanish Super Cup final against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, Lionel Messi was fit enough to start for Barcelona.
After having felt some pain in his thigh, Messi was left out of the semi-final victory over Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
But on Saturday and again on Sunday morning, the 33-year-old trained with Barca secure enough to send their captain the green light at La Cartuja stadium.
On Saturday, Coach Ronald Koeman said Messi would have the final say on his fitness, but maintained that no risks would be taken.
In his last five games, Messi has scored six times, his form coinciding with Barcelona’s upturn, heading to the final after nine unbeaten matches.
