Mrs Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-Central) has commended the Senate on the passage of the Bill for the establishment of the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC) through second reading.
Essiet in an interview in Abuja said that the passage of the bill through second reading by the Senate was thoughtful and timely.
She said that the bill when successfully assented to by President Bola Tinubu would bring the needed infrastructural development and empowerment for the people in the region.
“The passage of the bill through the second reading demonstrates the commitment of the 10th Senate to listen to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the North-Central region.
“The North-Central region faces unique challenges, including insecurities, communal conflicts, natural disasters such as flooding, infrastructural challenges, economic disparities, insufficient food and limited access to basic amenities among others.
“The proposed bill once passed into law and also assented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would ensure that these challenges are adequately addressed for the benefitof the people,” she said.
Essiet said that the bill which aims to establish a commission for the North-Central region, would be charged with the responsibility to receive and manage funds allocated by the Federal Government for development in the zone.
She said that her office being a bridge between the Federal Government and local communities would ensure all government policies are implemented once the bill was assented.
According to her, we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the North-Central region gets all the law makes provision for including good roads, houses, water and other infrastructural challenges presently faced by the region.
She urged the 10th Assembly to continue to prioritise the needs of the masses through legislations.
