The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has lauded its staffers, describing their roles as critical and crucial in disaster management.
Mr Justin Uwazuruonye, Head of NEMA Abuja Operations office said this during its 2024 Customer Service Week themed “Above and Beyond.”
Uwazuruonye appreciated all staff and stakeholders of the office highlighting their roles as crucial in the mitigation and management of disasters.
“I appreciate everyone for your tireless efforts while discharging your duties as disaster managers.
‘The essence of todays celebration is appreciate the efforts of all staff and stakeholders who double as customers as well.
‘Today is also to identify ways on how to improve on service delivery to the nation at large,” he said.
He commended the doggedness of its staff during disaster outreachs especially outrracyes done under extreme weather in difficult locations and terrifying situations.
He urged them not to relent as victims of all natural disasters, Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and refugess were relying on them for compassion, rescue and succour.
On their part, members of the agencies lauded the management for recognising the efforts of staff before, during and after disaster outreaches.
They also commended the swift response of the agencies management through the government in mitigating disasters irrespective of locations and situations.
Stakeholders in attendance were the FCT branch secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross, representative of the FCT sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), and the Director Relief Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA).
