According to an official document released on Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar owes more unpaid tax
than any other person on the Spanish authorities’ blacklist with debts of EUR 34.6 million ($40.5 million).
The Brazilian, who played for Barcelona from 2013 to 2017 in the most lucrative move in history before transferring to the
French club for 222 million euros, tops the list of thousands of names reported on the Spanish tax office ‘s website.
The Spanish press claimed last year that Neymar was being investigated by the Spanish tax authorities for tax evasion
dating back to his time in Barcelona, but this is the first time that this detail has been officially verified.
The Spanish tax office, contacted by AFP, did not say if the inclusion of Neymar on
the list was related to his move from the Brazilian club Santos to Barcelona in 2013.
But it said that the individuals had to meet multiple conditions to be on
the list of the highest debtors, including missing the final deadline to pay the debt.
