Sokoto State Gov. Aminu Tambuwal has commiserated with the government and Zamfara people over the abduction of 317 female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, on Friday.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, accompanied Tambuwal to Gusau on Friday
The duo expressed outrage at the students’ abduction that occurred in the early hours of Friday.
The abduction was described by Tambuwal as “dastardly, pathetic and an abuse of human dignity.”
He claimed that the citizens of Sokoto state, as well as the rest of the world, are mourning, and that those who committed these heinous acts should be ashamed of themselves.
For his part, the Sultan, returning from the Northern Governors’ Security Meeting in Kaduna with Tambuwal to Sokoto, prayed to God to make all criminals in the country better citizens.
The bandits were advised by Abubakar III to always have the fear of God in their way of life.
Gov. Bello Matawalle replied by thanking them for their concern and brotherliness in the midst of the tragic incident in the state.
The visit was a further demonstration that governors and traditional rulers were working in all parts of the country to find sustainable peace, Matawalle noted.
