Abuja- The World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s progress towards achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) following the recent United Nations (UN) humanitarian tour and assessment.
Mr Emmanuel Daudu, Secretary-General of the organisation, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
Daudu commended Mr Mohamed Malick-Fall, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator to Nigeria, for his dedication to achieving the SDGs in the country.
He praised Malick-Fall’s four-week tour across states, engaging with governors, commissioners, and public and private stakeholders, as a significant indicator of his passion for humanity and commitment to the Nigerian people.
Daudu expressed satisfaction with the inclusive nature of the tour, which involved Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), traditional and religious rulers, women, and youth groups.
He believed that this engagement would yield positive results, surpassing expectations and increasing developmental strides across the country.
The World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation reiterated its commitment to supporting the UN humanitarian coordinator with technical assistance for implementing UN humanitarian plans and programmes.
As an organisation operating in all UN member nationed, it remains dedicated to achieving the SDGs in each country.
