Wilfred Ndidi, the international Nigerian and Leicester midfielder, will undergo surgery to repair
a groin injury and is expected to miss about 12 weeks of action.
This was disclosed by Brendan
Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City.
The midfielder sustained the injury over the
weekend in Leicester ‘s win over Burnley.
As the Foxes faced Arsenal in the Carabao
Cup on Wednesday, Ndidi was absent from the team.
Brendan Rodgers also raised reservations
about the prolonged layoff of Ndidi.
The groin adductor has come
away from the joint, as suspected.
Rodgers described it as nasty, saying
that surgery is certainly required now.
He also said the upcoming absence of Ndidi was
‘unfortunate’ and acknowledged that for Leicester he’d be ‘a miss.’
He missed 11 Leicester matches and the club ‘s entire
Europa League group stage matches with Ndidi suspended for 12 weeks.
Nigeria’s matches against Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and both legs
against Sierra Leone would also be missed by the midfielder.
